In addition to the Wings wearing specialty Marvel jerseys created by the late Jeffery Veregee who traced his unique illustrative style to his Indigenous roots, the Wings game featured a pre-game land acknowledgment, a traditional flute performance by Tchin and dance by Native Nations Dance Theater. We Are the Seeds and Blue Turquoise Rose Trading Post were featured in the concourse promoting the work of local Indigenous artists.
The Wings partnered with Make-A-Wish to grant Tyler Lockett’s wish of having a home gym! Deacan Knott and Sam LeClair were on hand to help build the gym and surprise Lockett with the completed space. The Wings also hosted Lockett and his family for practice on Friday where he broke down the huddle and the Wings game on Saturday where he watched warmups from the bench.
